06/24/2008: "Manual steering / Kormány szervonak helló"

I've decided to replace my close ratio power steering box with a manual box from a S10. It's 20:1 compared to the 12:1, but it's simplifying the engine bay and my power steering bracket with the V8 never worked as it should have. Since the manual box using a different pitman arm, which I received with the box, the first task was to remove the arm. I had the special tool for the job, but it was too much to ask and I rendered the tool use less in a couple of minutes. So I took the box and the new arm to a local machine shop specialized in repairing steering components and they did what I couldn't in ten minutes. Now I only have to put the new box in and remove the old stuff...

Úgy döntöttem, hogy a szervo kormányművet lecserélem egy Chevrolet S10-ből származó manuálisra. Az ok kettős, egyrészről a motor tér egyszerűsítése, másrészről a pumpát tartó feszítő a V8-on soha nem működött úgy mint ahogy kellett volna neki. Az ebay-ről érkező manuális cucc-on rajta volt az ide nem jó irányító kar is, így az első feladat ennek a lepattintása volt. Rendelkezvén a megfelelő célszerszámmal úgy gondoltam, hogy ez nem lehet ellenfél. Hát tévedtem és ráadásul a szerszámot is sikerült leírni röpke negyed óra alatt. Más lehetőség nem lévén ma reggel ellátogattam a soroksári kormány gyógyítókhoz a kormányművel ill. a már polcon lévő Moog Sy-hez való irányító karral, akik mintegy 10 perc alatt potom 3000 Ft-ért ki is cserélték az irányító karokat. Most már nincs más teendő mint beszerelni. Kíváncsi vagyok mennyire veszi majd igénybe, egyébként meglehetősen erős, alkarom a 20:1-hez arányú manuális cucc az eddigi 12:1-es rásegítéseshez képest...
