10/25/2007: "Oil pumps /Olaj pumpák"

I've used a Melling M55HV oil pump with this engine. It served well in the past, I thought it will do so in this engine too. My bad. Melling changed the casting of these pumps a while ago and started to sell the original castings with a few upgrades (spring hold by a screw, pickup hold by screws) under the Melling Select name for twice the price. The new casting in the standard pumps became prone to breaking, especially in engine with solid motor mounts. Since I didn't want to test these theory myself I decided to replace my pump with one from the Select line (#10555). Let's call it insurance...

Mint ahogy a multban már többször a V8-nál is egy Melling olaj pumpát választottam. A multban ezek remekül müködtek, gondoltam most sem lesz problémám velük. Egy dolog kerülte csak el a figyelmemet, miszerint Mellingék sikeresen megváltoztatták az öntvény formáját, több helyen gyengítve azt. Ezzel a pumpa, főleg szilárd motor tartó bakoknál hajlamossá vált a törésre. Azt gondolom, hogy ez nem egy olyan jelenség amit szeretne az ember saját maga átélni, így a pumpa csere mellett döntöttem. Maradtam a Melling-nél, tekintve, hogy persze a régi öntvényt is tovább árulják, néhány extrával, Select név alatt, dupla áron. Megléptem a cserét, nyugodtabban alszom így.
