06/01/2005: "Muffler / Dob"
The straight exhaust with only the cat was getting old fast. Probably because the new larger turbo/ATR headers/422 cam combo the truck was much more louder than with the previous engine. So I decided to install a muffler. It's a straight throug muffler made by a local shop. Only 500 mm in lenght and 150 mm in diameter, so I was sceptic sound reduction wise, but it came through better than I expected. The truck has a much more civilized tone and way less sound volume than before. It's much more enjoyable to drive around.
A teljesen nyilt kipuffancs (bár katalizátor volt benne) nagyon hamar fárasztó lett ezzel a konfiggal. Talán a nagyobb turbó/kalács leömlő/nagyobb tengely miatt a jármű sokkal hangosabb volt mint az elöző mocival. Szóval végül úgy döntöttem, hogy felrakok egy Karkus Tomi féle kipufogó dobot. A dob 500 mm hosszú, 150 mm átmerőjü átmenő fajta. Kételyeim voltak, hogy mennyi hangot is fog megfogni, de nagyon jól sült el a dolog, sokkal civilizáltabb lett így a Sy.
