Racing 2003

I've the schedule for the Hungaroring, but not for Rabaring yet. Since Hungaroring will be renovated during this spring three of the spring races will be held at Tokol on the old military air base. Interesting... I'm eager to see that new place. Hungaroring's website got a new look this year, it has much more info there now than ever before. Check it out! Also the categories changed this year a little and now they are the same as at Rabaring. I don't care, however I lost some of my competition with the new categories, like the 2.0L turbo cars, for example Mitcu Evo and alike... Also one nice change that the spring races will be held on Saturdays.

Hungaroring/Tokol

  • I didn't expected a race this early in this year. There were still snow on the road and my Sy hasn't seen the streets with the new combo. So, obviously I missed this race. BTW in my category it continued where we left it last year. The two five cylinders Audi run the final, and the S2 won. Zsolt with the 90 run the best time that night, 9.004. An other interesting point, that Csabi with Sy #626 was there and made it to the eliminations, where he lost in the first round against a white Audi. That white Audi later grabbed the third place, btw, neither him, nor Csabi could break into the 9's. The times of this Sy could be improved for sure, he was racing with 1/4 tank of gas, couldn't power start and had few other issues too.

  • I had to miss this. I don't want race till I feel the Sy perfect. I just hate to searf for excuses. ;-) Anyway it was a chaos there, most of the guys couldn't even make it to start becose it was soo overcrowded. The Audis tried to get there but they couldn't so a few serial cars owned my category. A Stock C5 won, second was a Jaguar with a compy and the third is BMW M roadster. Best time in my cat was like 9.5. In the special category a modified 4th gen Camaro went 8.8. That was the best performance of the night.

  • Again, at Tokol... The race was ended because of an accident before the finals could start. I was not there, but it was said better organized. There were a few pretty fast cars too, for example BG's C5, which went 8.5's. Anyway no winners this time... I wish the best to all who was involved in the accident.

Pannoniaring

Because of the construction works at Rabaring there will be no racing there this year. Joe (organizer of this event) moved the racing to the Pannoniaring. I'm not happy with this, but there were no other choice. There will be four races this year, at Sunday evenings (!), 1/8 mile only. Yack, it's 210 km from Budapest...

  • Five cars in my category. Well, at least anybody had a chance to race. I was not there. It was dominated by Racers from Austria. In my category a heavily modified VW Karman Ghia won. Its best time was 8.2. The best time of the eveing was run by the 4th gen Camaro mentioned above (owner is BT.) 8.1 Since rain came down before the finals he was not able to reproduce this in the finals. My friend Zsolt got the second place with his Audi 90. He beated a Ferrari 355 in the semis. Good job Zsolt, congratulations!

  • As usual I was not there. Maybe this was the most competitive race of the year. My category (A5) was won by a Pontiac Firebird from Austria. The best time of the day in my category and the fastest overall trap speed was 8.39@147 km/h and it belongs to Farkas Isti with the S2 who placed second. The best overall times of the day came from category A4 this time. A Mitcu Evo VI from Austria went 8.36@139 km/h and the Tdi Polski Fiat with a new config went 8.38@138 km/h.

  • The last race of the year at Pring and it happened without me again. It was a rainy day, so a lot of guys stayed at home. The best overall time of the day was 8.19@138 km/h by the Evo VI. The best time in A5 went to the Pontiac Firebird from Austria with 8.38@141 km/h. This was the highest trap speed of the day and he won the category too. Schuster Zoli placed second with the RS2, with a best time of 8.81@132 km/h.
