Hungary
I dedicate this page to share you some local information with you. First of all I try to collect all the SyTY VIN's here in Hungary. I found four so far, but know other two Ty's and one Sy as well. This is a total of seven including me. There could be others. That's my mission to find them. ;-)
The
93' Ty #1313 below belongs to Dodi.
*

This other
93' Ty #467 was belonged to B. Sandor, now it belongs to T. Tamas.

A
92' Ty #1362 belongs to my best friend Pi now. He is using it as a daily driver, but takes care of it with my help. It's completely stock with the safety mods. Probably you will hear more on this truck on the site in the future.

Tehe other
Sy which I know personaly is
#626 and belongs to Csabi.

We talk on a regular basis, he is racing his truck, but the truck has serious issues, it went around 10.0 in the 1/8th. . There is an other Sy, which I heard about, it has problems, rebuilt engine, missing IC etc, would be nice to see it once. The fourth Sy in the country is an interesting one. I've not seen it yet, it's out there somewhere around Nyiregyhaza and said to be a Marlboro Sy. Can you say unbelivable? Sure, I wanna check this...

The other purpose this page should be some local Do's and Don'ts, which you could find useful if you own an American car in Hungary. First thing. Learn to speak English. You will need it if you don't want to completely depend on others, which could be a really bad thing sometimes.
*
So. Let's see. My experience.
*
Take the wrench and do it yourself. I still have to meet a mechanics who knows what he's talking about. The so-called American specialist even worse than the average. Believe me. I talked to quite a few.
*
Use the Internet. You can find a forum, a mailing list or just a bunch of websites talking about your car. If you have a problem, which you can't solve you can ask these people. They will help.
*
You might have a problem, which impossible to work around on your own. If this is the case, do you leg work before you go any mechanics. Try to talk people first. You can find good mechanics here in Hungary, but they are rare so it will take some time. Currently I'm looking for someone who can balance a crankshaft for me if I give him the bob weights. Any takers? Just drop me an email.

If you need some parts for your car I found Atlantic Motors (tel:36-1-206-0767) quite reliable. Don't expect to get the fancy performance stuff from there, but if you need something factory original or a replacement they can get it usually in a week or so. For GM, if you have the part number you can use
gmpartsdirect.com to get the list price, multiply by 1.5 and that's around their price. I tried to deal with some other companies, but it was horrible. So nowadays I exclusively use Atlantic Motors only.
*
Go to the local car shows. There are two in a year, one in Budapest every spring, and one in the countryside in the summer. You can find people who can help you, or you can find parts real cheap. You can get the actual information from Atlantic Motors any time.
*
Do you want to get parts directly from the States? Go find somebody who can route the packages for you. You can spare a lot of money like this. Visi! I really appreciate your help.

Finally pls feel free to drop me an
email anytime.
