Alky/Water injection
Most of the people who don't know W/A injections think it's a similar thing as NO2.
It's not. Totally different. What are the benefits of it?
- Cooling of the intake temps
- Make you incoming air denser (this coming from the previous one)
- Alky has a large octane number typically 110+
The main misconception, that A/W injection will increase the power output of the engine.
It won't. But it makes possible to increase your boost pressure to make more power.
How much power? It depends on. I'm still testing the capability of the system on
my truck. It already can be seen that ~3-4 PSI boost increase could be possible without
detonating.

Vendors. There are two really popular kits for our trucks. First is an Alky only
kit provided by
SMC
Enterprise. It was originally designed to Turbo Buick/GN's but can be easily
adapted to SyTy's and a bunch of people are using it. It has some great features
like a quite bulky incab control box to set the pump speed and turn on pressure
on the fly. It has some indicators leds as well, most importantly a "low on alky"
lamp.

The other kit is a W/A kit made by
Aquamist.
Actually Aquamist has three kits 1s, 2s and 2c. I'm using the 1s kit, which is the
most simple one. It has an adjustable pressure switch which turns in the pump through
a relay when the manifold pressure reached the pre-setted value. The 2s system is a
more sophisticated one with lot of features like blocked jet detection, MF2 computer
to do a full rpm and pressure dependent injection map. 2c is designed to work with 3rd party engine
management systems. There are clear upgrade paths from one system to the other.

I choose the Aquamist because it's quality is amazing. Much better than the the SMC unit.
The pump, the switch, the lines, the jets are all top thing. I even suggest to use
the Aquamist jets with the SMC kit, because they are far the best on the market.
One drawback of the Aquamist however that you can't get a can with it. I'm using
a simple plastic can from
Summit. Hopefully it will held the line against the corrosion caused by alky.

The mix. With the SMC kit people can use 100% alky. There are tons of discussion
on the mix. You can browse the Alky section of
Turbobuick.com to see the different opinions. Aquamist suggesting up to 50% methanol.
The methanol octane number is 113. No ethanol based products are supported with this kit.
Anyway according to the buick guys methanol is the best pick. I'm using 50/50 methanol/water.

On my truck I choose to install two 0.6mm jets on each side of the throttle body.
AFAICS the best results came from this type of mounting. Two jets between the IC and TB. Below are the flow rate of the different jets. I used as the rule of thumb that my two jets should flow around as a seventh injector.
The size of the jets can be changed easily. The jets are not to expensive.

I'm planning some kind of low alky lamp. Maybe using of the unused low IC lamp on the instrument panel?
We will see. Still a lot tuning ahead of me with this.
